AI content

“AI content can significantly enhance marketing for MSP IT support firms.”

That’s what AI told me.

So I quizzed it.

When challenged, a deeper lying concern emerged…

…one which could damage the reputation of MSPs (and other businesses).

AI cannot create content that is original, reliable or trusted.

If you’re using AI tools to create content, your MSP will not be original, reliable or trusted either!

And that could have a negative impact on your capacity to convert prospects

I address this issue in-depth in an article discussing the real cost of AI.

Spoiler alert: AI content assistants are not free.

How do AI writing assistants produce content?

AI-generated content is created through a fundamentally probabilistic process.

Rather than thinking, forming opinions, or understanding meaning like humans, the system generates responses by identifying patterns in vast amounts of training data and predicting what is most likely.

In other words, it propagates popular opinion

In content writing terms, the result is generic, duplicated, low-quality content.

Google doesn’t like that. In fact, Google penalises this type of content.

At no point does it “think or have an opinion” or hold beliefs; instead, it assigns probabilities and generates the most contextually likely response step by step.

If AI does not have an opinion or fresh insight, it is unlikely you will be able to create thought leadership pieces.

Thought leadership content gives you an advantage in a competitive market. They build trust and authority

How trustworthy is AI Content?

By its own admission, AI can produce outputs that appear coherent, intelligent, and even authoritative.

AI excels at generating fluent, well-structured explanations.

But AI cannot guarantee the content is accurate.

The primary risk is that AI produces “false depth” — language that appears authoritative while lacking operational accuracy or contextual grounding.

At the same time, it also admits that content may not reflect reality.

Which calls into question its reliability.

For MSPs, this is particularly relevant in technical and trust-sensitive environments such as cybersecurity, managed services, and IT operations.

Which would raise concerns among your prospects about your suitability as a business partner.

And things could get worse. AI could destroy your trustworthiness altogether.

What are AI’s limitations for creating content?

If AI cannot create content that is original, reliable or trusted, it has limitations for business use.

As a result, the generic or widely repeated observations it produces lack originality, meaningful insight, and potentially, accuracy.

For MSPs, that’s not a good look.

Should you use AI Assistants to create content?

You can, but you need a system that navigates the limitations. AI needs guidance towards accuracy, relevance, and safe interpretation.

Human oversight remains essential.
